I updated my MPGs, did a photoshoot with some friends, and briefly drove a Charger RT.
1. On the MPG front, doing more hand calculating for the last week 1/2, I drove 230 miles of 95% city and 5% highway, and acquired an average of 23.8 MPG!! That’s .8 MPG better than the ST’s city rating! The computer said I did 22.5 MPG before I filled up tonight; talk about off by such a significant amount.
2. Drove to Dearborn and did some rolling and still shots with some friends. After we finished, I got to drive the Charger above in a parking lot. It was straight-piped, and sounded really good! Not obnoxious by any means in my opinion.
It’s weird, because in person, it’s not a big looking car nor does it look like a 2-ton boat. I’ve never spent much time around them, but I really do like the way they look; 4-door fastback look FTW. And for weighing 2-tons, it has a lot of pickup and go and handles better than I thought, the steering is good feeling, and it gets sideways in parking lots too!! And I can see the hood and out in front of me! ^_^
I LOVE THIS AUTOMATIC LIKE NO OTHER! THE PADDLES ARE GREAT AND THE BEST PART....
IT FARTS ON THE UPSHIFTS!!!!! :D
I actually want one more than I thought now. When blacked out in the right spots (the grille) it looks much better than the Challenger. I kinda want one more than a Challenger, and I’m all about 2-door cars.
The only thing I didn’t like is the fact that the neutral rev limiter is at just under 4000rpm, but I bet a tune could get rid of that. :p
All in all, tonight was good.

I need to sit in a last gen charger. I like that nose better then this one. but the interior of this one looks soooo nice.

The last gen’s interior will suck in comparison sooo hard! I’m kinda iffy between which front end I like better; because I didn’t like either really, but I think I like the newer end more now. But I think the Hellcat and Scat Pack have the better looking front end.

I was up at our shop doing a project this afternoon and some was driving a Challenger with what sounded like open headers. Driving in a way to attract lots of attention. The good and bad attention

first gens were total shit i know. but i was under the impression that the second gens (esp near the end) were way better? like a 2014 or 2013.

The 2013-14 interiors are better than the earlier ones by far, but I like the way the 2015 looks, and you get that sexy 8 speed auto.

this is true.
I just really dont like the nose on anything lower then the R/T scat pack, but I would need the AWD (remember: northern ontario. I actually have a legit reasoning for AWD around here) but you dont get that on any of the V8's. you have to drop down to SXT + at the very most to get AWD.

Hahaha, I see you too are disquieted by the fact that you can’t see anything in front of the windshield on the ST.

I hate not being able to see anything. I got so use to it that when I drove a Mustang I was extremely nervous parking in front because I was so use to not seeing anything up front, that the hood threw off my habits. -_-

True. You could get AWD on the RT in the previous years, but not anymore. Shame really, I guess they weren’t popular? I actually do see quite a few AWD RTs around here.

Remember with the second gen you get that awesome LED taillight ring and more appealing profile. I do agree the first gens had a more appealing nose/headlights.

According to Wikipedia everything from 2006 on is current generation. I’d argue everything from the 2011/12 restyle should be considered 2nd gen. And now that you guys have me looking up SRT8s I actually think I like the 2012-14 face...needs moar hood scoop though.

The new charger looks have taken a long time to grow on me, but I quite like them now. Always loved how they drove!
